some of my favourite quotes

A compilation of my fav quotes over past 6 months or so:
  • Success does not require any skill except PASSION
  • Thoughts Become Things!
  • Many of the great achievements of the world were accomplished by tired and discouraged men who kept on working
  • Remember it in your dark moments when the weight isn’t coming off, when you’re poor, or when you can’t think of a way to write something down. Relax. Keep going. It will come.
  • “If you always put limits on everything you do, physical or anything else, it will spread into your work and into your life. There are no limits. There are only plateaus, and you must not stay there, you must go beyond them.” - Bruce Lee
  • Not one shred of evidence supports the notion that life is serious

thesocialnetwork

I have always found myself attracted towards things that fascinate me. This is one such instance.

thesocialnetwork and Endiran was scheduled to release at the same time. Both had much anticipation from different fan base groups. Endiran due to Rajini presence and Mark zuckerberg for thesocialnetwork. Rajini has a big impact on masses due to his charisma and there is a flair always associated with his movies. But thesocialnetwork is supposed to be a story of a real life person who is tremendously successful due to his intelligence and being at the right place at the right time and making right decisions(most of the time, though he has made few mistakes).

My friends were flocking towards Endiran movie theatres which to some extent raised my expectations thinking about the crowd and the pandemonium that can happen in theatres , but I let it pass away.

I have been following zuckerberg story for quite sometime in the media and the accusations that he has been involved with. I read various articles about him and wanted to see if its captured in the movie accurately or its made up of fiction. After seeing the movie, I thought it was not a fiction. I think the actor in the movie has really brought the character of zuckerberg. How do i know? Well, because mark zuckerberg in real life, is a scorpio moon and the movie has portrayed that very well.

Some instances:
  • His issue with girls and talking to people in a demeaning way
  • there are some scenes where he would stare with a blank face unrevealing what is going on in his mind
  • When Mark and his friend go for a meeting in new york , Mark would be uninterested in their boring conversation and would make some weird sounds and insult the boring guy
  • When the attorney condescendingly questions, Mark watches the rain pouring out of the window and bursts answering him when he stresses him to respond again and again
  • the way he is inspired and engrossed when Sean talks in the first meeting promising a billion dollar future for the company
  • Mark avenges the guys who say he can revamp his image by building a site for them
  • At end of the movie, Mark avenges his friends Saverin and Sean due to his jealously over them during some early point in life, making it a calculated revenge
The dialogue that remains in my mind after watching the movie:
"Mark you are not an asshole. But you are trying hard to become one"
"You have part of my attention - you have the minimum amount. The rest of my attention is back at the offices of Facebook, where my colleagues and I are doing things that no one in this room, including and especially your clients, are intellectually or creatively capable of doing."

The best scene was the first meeting of Mark with Sean from Napster.

Overall, it was really good but it could have been better if there were no flipping back and forth between the interrogation scene and the actual story.

idle mind

I was thinking the other day about how idle mind works in me. The idle mind comes into picture when I have settled at a place for sometime and my project is stabilized and things are going steady and cool.

This idle mind starts to devise some plan that would alter the peaceful life that has been going through. It tries to stir up the calmness, trying to bring in some excitement and adventure. Most of the times it tries to implement which it has not tried before so as to expand its limitations. It finds ways to travel new places and explore new options like adventure sports . The idle mind sees most of the people limiting themselves from doing something which was prohibited just because their parents and environment taught so?

The other day a colleague said he cannot eat egg as he finds eating it brings a sense of guilt. If this were my mind, it would try to eat as many eggs or whatever so as to relieve it self from the sense of guilt. This way it could expand and free from one more limitation it has been imposed on. These self imposed restrictions become irrelevant during a course of time. But we tend to still hold on to it.

getting back blogger

I'm concentrating on two things currently since there are so many things in the world to keep myself busy. I want to do a lot of things but 24 hrs is not sufficient. I know I sleep a lot but its mandatory for me to function normally. It was quite easy this time to concentrate on these two things as it came to my mind naturally something that I have done for a continuous period even in the past. Going to Gym and Practicing guitar. And have been quite successful in keeping up the momentum thanks to my client and my boss.

Gym is giving my muscles lot of stress and I could hear their tears. I m concentrating more on my arm as I m happy to some extent with my chest and abs. Good for them! It gives them the strength to handle tougher situations i.e. when I carry heavy suitcases :) I thought of ju jitsu and kickboxing instead of gym but thought if I would be successful with going to gym regularly i can take up one of them but my kickboxing class fell apart since the class was not as I expected. It dint have the toughness training, it was more like a fitness training for the ladies. So I quit on Day 1. In the fitness part, I may look forward for bollywood dance. Dance is something that I always wanted to do but dint get an oppurtunity to. The previous attempt was learning Salsa at Flyerz which dint take off as the guy would inform me when there was a group for Salsa. Hope the group never formed as I dint receive any notification from him.

Unnai Pol Oruvan - Below expectation

Wanted to see Unnai Pol Oruvan to compare it with "A Wednesday" but the theatres were full as usual in Chennai on a Saturday evening.Cant people find better entertainment spot than a theatre? went to the beach with friends spent a couple of hours and one of them suggested for the Drive-in in the ECR.I managed to get a seat on the second row and saw the movie while getting wet in the rain. The movie failed to impress as it couldn't match the excellence of characters set up in the hindi version. A person who could speak Tamil with better pronunciation could have taken the role of Mohanlal thanks to his dialogues which were incomprehensible. There was humour at unnecessary places to obstruct the flow of a serious, gripping movie. Kamal couldnt fit into a "common man" role neither Lakshmi's expressions were appropriate.

The last scene could have been more implicit than the one shown. Could manage to get a 2/10.

Everything you desire - totally disappointing

I can't avoid being a harsh critic at "Harsh" cos his book fails to invoke any enthusiasm from the readers.Reading through the book, gave a feeling that it would never end. I should have caught the lack of author's creativity from the naming of the book itself which is as bland as the author and the contents of the novel. The brand IIM duped me into buying this book. It was yet another college life and there wasn't anything novel for the readers with the exception of management jargons. The characters failed to stay in the mind and disappeared before they could come out as a strong personality. Some of the sentences were appearing repeatedly and the use of cliches added to the disgust. The ending too dint create an impact for readers to remember. However it has definitely aroused a negative impact, for the critics to mock about. I start wondering if the author is really a product of IIM.

dreams

Never ever give up on your dreams because following dreams keeps you alive.

competitions

I hate competitions - either I should be ahead of everybody in the crowd or leave way for the crowd to grab the prize - I prefer to wait. Definitely I'm not part of a crowd.

Astrological view

For a long time I have been wanting to write an article about astrology in determining a personality. I do not much believe in astrological forecasts but sometimes have been stunned by it. This may be an outdated topic for some of the people in this 21st century and this topic has been shunned by noble prize winners and scientists as not a science. But I personally believe that the personality of a person can be determined through astrology. One word for non believers - if you don agree - consider it as statistics - a branch of mathematical science, as which ever celebrity has been born in the world, his astrological data has been examined and analyzed. Taking the commonality, you can relate a planet, its location to a characteristic**.

I never knew why I do certain things which do not fit for my Sun sign. It started getting clearer when I found out my moon and ascendant sign. Moon representing the innermost emotions and ascendant, how others see on the first impression.

Some of the things which astonished me:

Scorpio moons are believed to have at least an interest in astrology, me being a Scorpio moon
Scorpio in Lilith people have near death experiences in life.
Scorpio moons are adept in hiding emotions. They are obsessive, passionate and secretive.
Cancer ascendant people come across as gentle creatures.

**Jumping deep into astrology.

Street View

Have you ever wondered how could google maps display 360 degree street view of almost all the possible locations in America?

It seems Google has people who travel in their vehicle with a rotating camera on it top, taking 360 degree pictures of the places they visit. Couldn't believe it right? Its true and interesting.

What is Google doing?

Google, as I see combines enormous amount of data from different sources and presents in a unique, user friendly format. Though its outrageous to put it in such a simple form, I can't keep wondering about its recent innovation Google ocean.

Golden post

Today I'm happy to announce that this post contributes to my 50th post since I started writing it in Sep 2006. Whopping 2 and half years passed since. Though I have not made any significant blog post receiving millions of hits on my site, I feel happy about having written some pages with content from my own, original thoughts, sometimes after an analysis of few materials written by experienced authors. Currently my focus is on writing an analysis of "science behind things" interspersed with occasional ranting about other stuff.

For those who do not know about other bloggers cum cecrians, visit these amjath, balsu and kani links. Those who have enough time please feel free to visit these blogs, add comments on what you think about the material presented in it. Those who have stopped writing, I urge you guys to find time and start contributing again(get inspired man!!). For those who are silently blogging, please let the world know about your work. Happy blogging!

It has been found that 30 minutes of daily writing tremendously increases your writing skills, vocabulary and improves the organization of thought into words.
